What will the expansion look like?

When will construction begin, and how long

will it last?

Shovels will go into the ground on April 15.

We expect construction on our final building expansion to be completed in January 2025.

Who will be doing

the construction?

We hired Maple Reinders Construction Company to complete our building addition. They are the company who built the original school building and our previous two additions.

What safety measures are put in place to ensure our students are safe?

Maple Reinders employs a health and safety officer for the construction site to ensure all safety measures are followed. Outdoor fencing and indoor plywood walls will ensure that the site is not accessed by any students or staff.

How will the construction vehicles and contractors’ vehicles access the school’s property?

We have been granted access to the Hydro One road on the south side of our property. All construction vehicles and contractors’ vehicles will be coming onto our property via that road and will not have access to the front entrance of our property.

Will my child’s classroom be changed or moved?

All classrooms and school spaces with an outer wall that is adjacent to the new expansion must be vacated from May 6 until August 26. This will affect our grade 5a, grade 6, and grade 8 classrooms.

For the final seven weeks of school, some of our classrooms will be moving. Grade 5a will move across the hall into the classroom currently occupied by grade 6b. Our grade 6 classrooms will merge and move to our Student Support Services room. Our grade 8 classrooms will merge and move into the Music Room.

Will students be able to access the school gym for Phys.Ed. classes, athletic tournaments, music classes, weekly chapels, and other assemblies or events?

All classrooms and school spaces with an outer wall that is adjacent to the new expansion must be vacated from May 6 until August 26. This includes our existing gymnasium.

All events that took place in the gymnasium before construction will be moved to another location inside the school or outdoors (weather permitting).

Our Concert Band classes will take place at ClearView Church.

Will other parts of the school be impacted by the building expansion?

Yes. Student Support Services will move to the principal's office and the conference room. Some of our administrative staff members will be working offsite for the remainder of the year.

Principal George Petrusma will be sharing office space in the main office and the hall.

How will construction affect drop off and pick up?

The drop-off and pick up procedures will not change during our building expansion.

Where can I park if I come to the school during construction?

For temporary visits, to pick up your child for an appointment or to drop off a forgotten lunch, you may park on Sheridan Garden Drive.

If you are coming to the school for a meeting or to volunteer, please park at ClearView Church and walk over to the school.

Please do not park at Wildwood Academy or at FCT. We do not have permission to use their parking lots, and your vehicle may be tagged or towed.

Where will students spend recess?

As of May 6, construction equipment will be on our property. Our back field and side playground will be closed to students.

Between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm, our school parking lot will be closed and converted to outdoor recess space for Grade 3-8 students. Our creative teaching team has brainstormed some great activities to keep our students happy!

Students will still have recess at staggered times to keep the number of students in the parking lot limited to manageable and safe numbers.
